Tea Party Fare with Flair

The high school girls at our church have a discipleship group called “Ladies In Waiting" which meets weekly. Various moms provide the goodies for the tea-party-themed refreshments. Because I have no girls, I feel a “frou-frou” deficit quite often. So I volunteered to be responsible for goodies for a meeting. I finally got the call!Bad news was they only needed savories; another mother was delivering fruit & someone else was making the sweets. heavy sigh…ejteapartyAh well, all is not lost! I got to make the puffs I’d been planning – I just decided to make bacon Swiss gougèresIMG_20131026_072308 and fill them with a light pesto cream cheese.IMG_20131026_074716I also tried my hand at some fiesta pinwheels.pinsOh, yeah… I ended up making turkey sammies… just in case…ejbutterspread them with a lovely smoked paprika compounded butterDSCN8912

Today I'm loving

the fact that I live in a desert & don't have to fear a tsunami.
(I'm also loving the fact that we've heard from military friends in Japan & Guam that they're OK for now.)

I love that my big boy is working hard academically & physically to attain a service academy nomination.

I love that my "little" boys find joy in having their stuffed animals crash my tea party!

I'm so happy for church friends who will be leaving Easter weekend to bring home their newly adopted children from Columbia. I love pennants & am making one for each child's room.  I'm glad to have one finished & the other two at 90%.

But most of all today, I'm loving that the "Reason for the Season" didn't stay a babe in a manger. He grew up - died for my salvation - and now lives in Heaven; waiting for that trumpet to sound so He can take me Home!

I'm loving Paisley Jade's weekly reminder:  "I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something that you can be thankful for... no matter how simple it is."
