for Givana

Last month my li'l sis commissioned me to stitch up some girlie necessaries in zebra & pink. Her friend was expecting a granddaughter.
Had no trouble running down zebra prints (I even picked up a remnant of zebra fleece I didn't get to use in this project...) but do ya think I could find the pink chenille I wanted? I ended up buying a bath towel. Fortunately the pink wasn't very difficult to match.
First up was embroidering one of the burps with a zebra. Love the rick rack trim...
What I'm never going to do again is monogram an initial with terry toweling! I do like the way it looks now, but it was a real pain to trim!
I found the pattern for the changing pad here. (Of course I had Pinterested it a few weeks prior & knew right where to find it!) The directions were easy to follow.
I did end up stitching the binding by hand instead of top-stitching because of the thickness of the terry.
I packaged the three items up & shipped it off to the sis. She amazingly found some zebra wrapping paper & matching ribbon at Michael's.

baby shower gifts

Last week was a trifle busy with a couple little items for a baby girl due next month. I made her a hat
a headband

a taggy-head crinkley doll

and two burp rags.

Blankie, Bunnies & Burps

Living in the Valley, one doesn't use a lot of blankets -- unless you're a baby.  I try to create my blankies for use year-'round.  This one for Baby-to-be-"M" uses a light pink Minkee & crisp cotton floral. It isn't apparent from the photo, but the roses are highlighted with shimmery gold -- which is why her monogram is gold thread.  I made the binding from one of three pink plaids.

I love this "Wee Bunny" pattern from weewonderfuls! I've used it for many 1-year-old-birthday gifts. The bunny for "M" uses pink plaids plus the rose print.  Gotta have Minkee ears!

I figured Bunny M needed a big sister "K". (I made a toddler quite happy: she took the bunny to bed the first night...)

I embroider the face so there are no buttons or whiskers to chew off! The pom-pom tail is stitched with upholstery thread.
I am such a fan of raggy monograms! I texture that much.

This sweet blanket stitch applique flower from Sew-N-2-U pretties-up another burp.
Ahhh -- another baby gift wrapped up...

p.s. -- I didn't forget "Mom"...

Ming Tian

is her name.  (It means "Singing Sky.")  She's a beautiful little China doll!  I just had to make her some girlie stuff.

A couple of "burpies"

& a satin/minkee lace-edged blankie ought to do the trick!

Auggie is always around while I work.  Right now he's sleeping on my feet!
