December Embroideries

sooooooooo . . .

Just where did 2011 go?

I managed to get a little embroidering done for a few small gifts.

First up was a tea cozy made from a vintage (cutter) quilt. It was kinda tough embroidering because the ?batting(?) was balled & bunched up in different places. (When I rinsed out the stabilizer I also dissolved some of whatever fibers were in there -- weird!)
(I'll probably add some more pics of the entire cozy at a later date.)
I love my new flatware design from Embroidery Library
I did quite a few towel sets for the various households in the family.

(Also did a simple hand appliqué on some bar towels for a hand towel.)
I embroidered a snuggle-soft blanket/throw for the in-laws. They moved here from Colorado over Thanksgiving and are hoping to close escrow on their new home in Surprise soon.
I did a tea light set for my sweet friend Sara. I used all white felt to mimic a porcelain nativity.
I trust you had a blessed Christmas season, and are enjoying a fabulous start to 2012.

Oh, I've been busy, alright...

Notwithstanding, I had a boy turn 13 this week. I had an out-of-town father-in-law in town house-hunting this weekend. I was on the schedule to bring snacks to class on Sunday. I baby dog-sat my aunt's schnauzer last week & blogger pretty much sucked stunk was worthless ...

But, I did complete a couple projects:

My Auntie Faith was in town for a brief visit, so I made her a lovely little tea towel to take home for her darling tea parties with granddaughter Caylin.
Doesn't it look like this was hand embroidered a century ago?

My dad's birthday is tomorrow -- I graciously parted with this

extracted from one of my Mother's Day gifts from the hubs which was this
YUP! That's a gallon of the good stuff!

I also made this for my parents' wall ('cause their 52nd anniversary is less than a month away...)

...and speaking of tea sets...

I do love all things "tea"! So while I was taking pictures of the embroidery yesterday, one thing led to another...
When I was expecting my last child (& expecting it to be a girl...) my dear friend's mother china-painted a tea set for me.

(Yes, this hurt my ♥!)

Painted just for me!
Even the backs are beautiful!
Mini 'Nilla Wafers are da bomb!
moral: Never leave a tea table unattended!
You let one cat slip in...
...there goes the party!
