I am in the midst of reading "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp. It's full title is One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are. This book has spoken to my heart! Ingratitude has stunted my spiritual growth & emotional well-being.
I aim to remedy that! Here is the start of my gratitude journal.
- iced coffee prepared by my husband
- coolness from the a/c vent over my desk
- early morning praise songs
- Jesus waiting to commune in my garden
- giggles from the guys (big & little) watching old Jackie Chan movies
- healings of big toes
- riding (alone) in the truck with my love
- snuggly kitty
- sitting in church with my loves
- darling quail flitting ahead of us on our morning walk
- parcels in the mail
- new sheers for the front window
- "blogfriends"
- Celestial Seasoning's Raspberry Zinger tea -- on ice!
- dead aquarium, one survivor -- one survivor
- cloudy days in July
- his scent on the pillow
- bratwurst on the grill
- corn rolled in butter
- sparklers waved by the pool
- 75° in Phoenix on the 4th of July
- family card games
- dawn's condensation on cars (in Phoenix, in JULY!)
- my love working from home
- fluffy white dog
- roses that survive the heat
- "volunteer" peach tree which shades some veggies
- full moon reflected in the pool
- one-stop grocery shopping!
- ability to have friends over for dinner
- palms & morning clouds reflected on the surface of the pool's water
- cobalt glass!
- contented hearts
- husband's love
- fresh peaches
- needle & thread
- cotton nighties
- clean windows
- smell of sun-dried sheets
- sparkling crystal
- wingback chairs
- husband's employment (despite having to work on a day off...)
- citrus ripening on the limb
- the blast of cool air when coming in from outdoors
- homesick son who can be retrieved prior to going out of town with grandparents
- joyful puppy chases
- taking Communion from the hands of the one I love
- the sound of cracking open roasted peanuts
- wind-chimes in the summer breeze
- baby adoption shower
- shiny-red sweet apples
- hmmmmmmmm ~insomnia~ I'm thankful for time alone with God
- afternoon naps
- new recipe successes
- redeemed craft "fails"
- dirty dishes in the sink (means we have plenty of food and soap & water for washing...)
- boy & doggie splashes in the pool
- realizing my need for a Savior
- And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
- being a third of a three-strand cord
- confessing shortcomings to sons
- baking cookies
- sewing blankies
- monogramming napkins
- clean freezer (how does it get juice & soda & ice cream & coffee on the wall, anyway?)
- lying in bed watching a lightning storm (such an awesome display of the Creator's power!)
- fresh-washed smell of the morning after the rain
- kiss at the door as he head off to work
- mercy demonstrated by humans
- completed projects!
#7... such a sweet blessing and the expressing appreciation of it to both the Father and the sweetie brings such joy!
