I am in the midst of reading "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp. It's full title is One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are. This book has spoken to my heart! Ingratitude has stunted my spiritual growth & emotional well-being.


I aim to remedy that! Here is the start of my gratitude journal.

  1. iced coffee prepared by my husband
  2. coolness from the a/c vent over my desk
  3. early morning praise songs
  4. Jesus waiting to commune in my garden
  5. giggles from the guys (big & little) watching old Jackie Chan movies
  6. healings of big toes
  7. riding (alone) in the truck with my love
  8. snuggly kitty
  9. sitting in church with my loves
  10. darling quail flitting ahead of us on our morning walk
  11. parcels in the mail
  12. new sheers for the front window
  13. "blogfriends"
  14. Celestial Seasoning's Raspberry Zinger tea -- on ice!
  15. dead aquarium, one survivor -- one survivor
  16. cloudy days in July
  17. his scent on the pillow
  18. bratwurst on the grill
  19. corn rolled in butter
  20. sparklers waved by the pool
  21. 75° in Phoenix on the 4th of July
  22. family card games
  23. dawn's condensation on cars (in Phoenix, in JULY!)
  24. my love working from home
  25. fluffy white dog
  26. roses that survive the heat
  27. "volunteer" peach tree which shades some veggies
  28. full moon reflected in the pool
  29. one-stop grocery shopping!
  30. ability to have friends over for dinner
  31. palms & morning clouds reflected on the surface of the pool's water
  32. cobalt glass!
  33. contented hearts
  34. husband's love
  35. fresh peaches
  36. needle & thread
  37. cotton nighties
  38. clean windows
  39. smell of sun-dried sheets
  40. sparkling crystal
  41. wingback chairs
  42. husband's employment (despite having to work on a day off...)
  43. citrus ripening on the limb
  44. the blast of cool air when coming in from outdoors
  45. homesick son who can be retrieved prior to going out of town with grandparents
  46. joyful puppy chases
  47. taking Communion from the hands of the one I love
  48. the sound of cracking open roasted peanuts
  49. wind-chimes in the summer breeze
  50. baby adoption shower
  51. shiny-red sweet apples
  52. hmmmmmmmm ~insomnia~ I'm thankful for time alone with God
  53. afternoon naps
  54. new recipe successes
  55. redeemed craft "fails"
  56. dirty dishes in the sink (means we have plenty of food and soap & water for washing...)
  57. boy & doggie splashes in the pool
  58. realizing my need for a Savior
  59. And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
  60. being a third of a three-strand cord
  61. confessing shortcomings to sons
  62. baking cookies
  63. sewing blankies
  64. monogramming napkins
  65. clean freezer (how does it get juice & soda & ice cream & coffee on the wall, anyway?)
  66. lying in bed watching a lightning storm (such an awesome display of the Creator's power!)
  67. fresh-washed smell of the morning after the rain
  68. kiss at the door as he head off to work
  69. mercy demonstrated by humans
  70. completed projects!

  1. #7... such a sweet blessing and the expressing appreciation of it to both the Father and the sweetie brings such joy!

    I hope Ann V's book will touch you as it has me. God is using it to change my focus.
